Dean in Charge is the seventh episode of the second season of Code Monkeys. It is preceded by The Kid is Mine and followed by Drunken Office Party.
Plot[]
Dean brings in all of GameAVision to celebrate his dad's birthday and even orders the last White Rhino in the world for him to shoot. Being Dean however, he finishes festivities by shooting his father in the face. Now stationed at the hospital while he recovers, Larrity announces business as usual but needs someone to run the place for the next few days requiring at least one game to be produced. After weighing his options, he believes his own idiot son is a good choice. Even though he shot him. Even though he favors Dave, Benny, and Black Steve over Todd and Jerry. Despite this decision, he's still well aware that Dean is still dumb.
Everyone else feels the same during the pitch meeting, with Dean rejecting Jerry and Todd's ideas because there are too confusing and the two are nerds. Dave then finds away to exploit Dean's idiocy: he throws a pitch about a game called "Bros", and Dean likes what he hears. Dave then spreads the word for everyone to pretend they are developing the game, allowing them to ask for literally anything and say it's for "Bros". In fact, all but Todd are able to accomplish this just by saying "Bros". Meanwhile, Clare has found her own way to control Dean (and by extension GameAVision), telling him that he now has the power to hire and fire whomever he wants.
The next day, Dean invites his old friends from his Alpha Sigma Sigma college fraternity as new "employees" and wreak havoc all over GameAVision. Eventually, Mary becomes frustrated at the boys' "Brocabulary", and Black Steve is criticized for not being a team player, refusing to engage in their mischief. Thanks to Clare's guidance, Dean fires them both for being "un-brofessional". She later offers her body to him if he kills his dad. Todd is close enough to listen in on the conversation and rushes to the hospital to join the others and warn Larrity.
Now fully recovered, Larrity forms a temporary fraternity (with Mary included) to take back the company by challenging the frat boys through a series of frat games. He confronts his son but, after he shoots him, Clare gives up her agenda and shifts the blame on Dean, saying he plotted everything. Expecting to be killed as an accomplice, Larrity instead gives her a raise for taking charge in his absence. Firing the frat boys, GameAVision returns to its status quo.
While all this is happening, Jerry tries to interact with his idol, programmer Howard Warshaw of Yar's Revenge, after feeling that he was being ignored. However, his frequent need for attention is seen as so unhinged and creepy, going as far as to visit his house at night, Howard plans to move himself and his family far away.
